Grand Theft Auto Series - Review

Grand Theft Auto is an action-adventure, open world game, the player is in control of a criminal and missions are to complete tasks provided by city’s gang’s major idols from the underworld. “Grand Theft Auto” the first in the series was released on (October 1997) and the most recent release “Grand Theft Auto 5” which was released on (14 April 2015) that has sold 54 million copies and is the best-selling video game of all time. However parents must check ESRB ratings for each game released before buying this game as it is inappropriate for children and this game is only for Adults. Player’s capabilities have been improving over the years along with other game features. System requirements for GTA 5 are below as always.
Caution:Avoid buying this game to those individuals who might or in past have committed criminal acts, as it may encourage them towards criminal activities.

GAMEPLAY - CRITICISM - ACHIEVEMENTS

Players take on the role of a criminal in the big city. The player is given missions by the major idols in the city underworld to progress over the storyline. The player has to perform assassinations, violent crimes and sometimes getting involved in driving a taxi, street racing, firefighting, bus driving regularly or learn to fly helicopter and aircraft. Players have the freedom to play the story or just do whatever they want in the open world by exploring the cities on foot or drive in a stolen vehicles. Vehicles can take damage and will explode after burning up, the player has to jump out of the car and will be killed if Vehicle explodes while the player is inside. In the game players have the ability to kill people on the streets for money, steal any vehicle, kill a policeman, destroy property and shoot people or policemen, running a car over people, perform dangerous stunts, the list goes on… Players can drive a stolen car, bike, tank, or swim and run. The game has been judged in Britain, France and Germany due to its extreme violence, sex scenes and illegal activities that are part of the game series. The first release of the game was completely banned in Brazil. Grand Theft Auto 3 made violence, even more, realistic due to its 3D effects. Players can make money by taking the role of certain vehicles after stealing the vehicle, the player can become a taxi driver and pick & drop passengers, an ambulance driver, and a police officer after killing the police officer and stealing the police car. In GTA 5 playing by the story unlocks more gameplay content as story progress and auto aim & the cover system can help the player in combat with enemies. Attacking people on the streets can scare people and people may run from the player or may fight back.
The Grand Theft Auto series has broken several records resulting in ‘Guinness World Records’ including (1) Most Guest Stars in a Video Game Series, (2) Largest Voice Cast in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, (3) Largest In-Game Soundtrack in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and (4) Most Successful Entertainment Launch of All Time in Grand Theft Auto 5. Guinness World Records also ranked Grand Theft Auto in third place on their list of top 50 console games. The Guinness World Records 2009 also listed “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” as the most successful game on the PlayStation 2.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has been accused of sexism and criticized that player has to forcefully torturer and perform series of unspeakable acts to successfully achieve in the game. The game forces players to pull teeth and electrocute the unarmed man in order to extract information.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Story (14 April 2015) RANK 10/10

The player is in control of Michael Townley. Michael is living in Los Santos under witness protection with his family, after nine years of the botched robbery in Ludendorff, North Yankton. Michael finds his wife Amanda has been sleeping with her tennis coach, Michael chases the coach to a mansion and destroys it in anger and revenge, that later turns out to be owned by the girlfriend of a Mexican drug lord named Martin Madrazo. Martin threatens Michael and demands the payment under the threat of further violence. Michael goes back into the life of crime to get the money. He recruits his partner who previously worked as an agent for Armenian car salesman. Together they perform a robbery at a jewelry shop to pay the debt to keep his family safe. After the successful robbery, he pays Martin and then Michael returns to his family and they start living together again. Federal Investigation Bureau government agents contact Michael and demand that he perform a series of operations with Franklin and Trevor to weaken a competitor, the International Affairs Agency (IAA). Together they attack a reinforced group carrying funds for the IAA and raid a bank that is covering the payroll for all corrupt police and public officials in Los Santos.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (2 December 2008) RANK 10/10

Despite its criticism, the game has sold approximately 6 million copies worldwide. Players have the ability to use Melee attacks, use explosives to fight enemies, jump, run, or swim where possible or drive stolen vehicles for traveling in the game world. The player can get hurt, a health meter can be restored using multiple techniques such as by eating or use medical kits, or by calling for paramedics. As players commit a crime, a meter displays the “Wanted” level by Law enforcement agencies, the player can hide from police officers until level cools down. If wanted meter level is high, police will search for the player and will shoot if the player comes in the line of sight.

Grand Theft Auto 3 (22 October 2001) RANK 10/10

The player has the ability to sprint and jump. However, the player is incapable of climbing or swimming. Swimming is later introduced in the Grand Theft Auto 4 release.

Grand Theft Auto 2 (30 September 1999) RANK 7/10

Players can complete missions for separate gangs, however working with more than one gangs can cause distrust in the others. Police and Swat teams will pursue the player if something goes wrong. If the player kills 4 cops swat teams will pursue if 5 cops are killed than Special Agents and if 6 cops are killed than army will pursue the player as the wanted level increases that show images of cop’s head, a health meter on the screen will show the player’s current health. Players can get on a bus or steal a car to get to certain places to complete the missions.

The game has very similar features as described above, however over the time of development, there may be fewer features compared with the latest release.
