STORY

Ground Zeroes - ScreenshotPaz Ortega Andrade is missing and assumed dead after the ‘Pease Walker’ incident. Kazuhira Miller and Huey from Militaires Sans Frontières (MSF) focus on an upcoming inspection, the UN doubts that they have developed a nuclear weapon. MSF believes that this attempt is to suppress them by the Cipher organization. The preparations get interrupted when MSF agents in Cuba report that Paz had survived and is being captive at Camp Omega. The situation gets complicated as it may compromise MSF, as soon as Ricardo “Chico” Valenciano Libre gets captured in an attempt to rescue her. Snake is then sent to infiltrate the Camp Omega to extract both of them, if they are still alive or confirm if they are dead and what they revealed to the captors.

Ground Zeroes - ScreenshotGround Zeroes - ScreenshotSnake believes that by rescuing Paz will convince Cipher to stand down and Paz may discuss Cipher’s activities with MSF more willingly. Snake infiltrates the Camp Omega as a Special Forces unit known as XOF and extracts Chico, who believes that Paz is dead. Snake assumes that Paz is alive and is moved deeper into the camp. He then sneaks into the camp and manages to rescue Paz and escapes via an MSF helicopter titled Morpho One. However, on the way back to Mother Base, Chico learns that Paz was surgically implanted with a bomb, forcing Snake and an MSF medic to remove it by hand.
They then arrive to the Mother Base and find it under attack by XOF forces.
Ground Zeroes - ScreenshotMorpho lands for Snake to rescue Miller, who claims that the inspection by the UN was just a trick for the XOF ambush. As they attempt to escape XOF forces, Paz regains consciousness and warns everyone that there is a second bomb insider her body and jumps out of the flying helicopter knowing she would die, the explosion causes Morpho to lose control and collides with a XOF helicopter that was chasing them. There are no survivors in the XOF attack, other than Snake and Miller. It becomes clear that United States government downplayed MSF’s destruction and attempted to hide their dealings with the organization.
